Fun Stuff Pt. 2

Read "Fun Stuff" if you didn't already and then you'll understand this post...
So, we went back to Beef O'Brady's this past Wednesday to try our hand at the trivia game again since we won last week. We had high hopes and a LOT of confidence, but I guess it didn't matter. We lost BAAAAAAAAD!!!!!!! I mean BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!!! We didn't even have a chance! Maybe we'll try again next week - keep your fingers crossed!

First Baseball Game of the Spring 2008 Season!

Last weekend was the opening of the Spring 2008 tball season. Our team consists of players that have been on the team for a couple of seasons now, so they are getting to know their stuff and it definitely showed! When our team took the field, they got into their designated positions and all together they put their hands on their knees in a crouched position, looking like professional baseball players. The team we were playing consisted of a LOT of younger kids - mostly 4-year olds - and it showed! Our team looked VERY intimidating out on the baseball field and I even felt a little sorry for the opposing team! That started the game off right and it only got better. Euan got one of the first balls hit and grounded it like he has been doing this for years (when in all actuality he really has). He threw it to first and was so proud of himself! He cheered a little after he threw the ball and it was like a lightbulb went off in that little boys head and he finally knew what baseball was all about! Ashton got one of the next few balls, as well, and he also grounded it with grace! I was so proud of our boys and the rest of the team followed suit, showing off their experience! I wish I had had a video camera on our team that day - they were FANTASTIC and it was a GREAT way to start off the new season!!!!!!
GOOOOOOOOOOO BRAVES!!!!!!!
(No pictures this time, I'll be sure to take some soon!)

Strawberry Festival Time!

It's that time of year again - Strawberry Festival time!!! Yummy strawberries, whip cream, cake and LOTS of sugar are the PERFECT combination for a delicious time at the Strawberry Festival! The boys, Scott and I all took a treck to the Tampa area last weekend (March 2nd) for a fun-filled day! The last time we went was probably about four years ago, so either Ashton was not born yet or was a tiny baby. The boys had a good time riding the rides and eating although it is less strawberry and more carnival now. All in all, though, we had a good time and the strawberry shortcake was definitely worth the $10 per person gate fee, the $7 per person dessert price and the long line!!! Here are a few pictures from our trip! Notice the whip cream on the boys faces :)

Sweet Boys!

The cutest thing happened a few nights ago that I just needed to share. My boys, as is well known, are very very very very very very different! One says black the other says white, one says go the other says stop, and so on! Well, Euan had sat down to read one of his library books and Ashton said he was going to help him so he held the book and turned the pages while Euan read it. I was so sweet watching the two of them sit side-by-side, working together to read the book. It was the perfect definition of PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!!

Guess What?!!!

I'm so excited to share this information with you! A couple of days ago, as I was waiting for the light to change while leaving Euan's school, I happened to look over at the marquee. I had to do a double-take because my name was on it!!!! I then read that I had been award the Dividend of the Month! I've never had my name on a marquee before and I have to tell you, it's pretty exciting!!! I, of course, called my mother and told her and she wanted to know when the big party was going to be. I told her that I needed to book the caterer and band first and then I would know a date - hee hee hee!!!!

Fun Stuff!!!

OK, so I know a few of my friends that will appreciate this post because it involves TRIVIA!!! Scott, the boys and I headed over to Beef O'Brady's in Winter Springs last night for dinner after tball practice. While we were there, we noticed some signs on the tables that said that they are now doing Trivia Night on Wednesdays. We were all excited about that when we learned that they were going to be starting the trivia game in the next few minutes! So, we got an answer sheet and came up with our team name - Scott's Zany Brood (I thought it was cute!). We played along and answered all of the questions, most of them very confidently. They really weren't that tough, they just made you head back in time and think. For example, one of the questions was, "What book involves a young, friendly fish that shares his colorful scales with friends that he meets?" Having children, this question wasn't very hard, but it had been a while since I had read the book. I finally came up with the answer, though! It was The Rainbow Fish. Another question was, "What three parts of speech can an adverb describe?" GEE WHIZ!!!! I got two of them, but it was a trick question because one of the answers was another adverb!!! I didn't get that one. Well, we must have done pretty well, though, because we ended up winning!!!!!!!!!! We were so excited!!!!! BUT, when they called the name of our team, the girl said it was Scott's Zany BroAd, not BROOD!!! I was a little embarassed, so I sent Euan up to claim our prize which ended up being a gift certificate to that restaurant that we ended up being able to use that night!!! We had such a good time and the boys enjoyed helping to answer the questions! I think that we'll be back next week for another fun trivia game. I wonder if we'll win again?!!!!!

A Little Bragging!

OK, I know we all can't stand those people that brag about their children, but I'm going to do it anyway!!! This is my blog and it's my right :) Anyway, I just thought I needed to recognize my older son for his accomplishment. Euan's kindergarten teacher told me a few weeks ago that she had talked to the Gifted teacher about Euan and asked that if she had any extra time she had a little boy that she would like to send her way. Well, the Gifted teacher did happen to have some extra time and Euan now goes to see her one day a week for about an hour. Euan's teacher advised the Gifted Teacher that he is very good in math and enjoys it so much so when he goes to see her, they work on extra math skills. Kindergarteners usually are not eligible for the Gifted program so Scott and I were both VERY excited that Euan was going to get to join!!! I am so proud of his math abilities, but I do have to say, it definitely is not something that he got from me - that's all Scott!!!!!!
